Amnesty Young Songwriter Awards: hurry, it closes soon!

Thursday 6 February 2014

Over the years, writers and musicians have found inspiration in human rights issues and written powerful protest songs to change the world.

Amnesty International is challenging your students to write compelling protest lyrics, or to perform songs highlighting the human rights issues of today.

Jerry Dammers of The Specials, and author of Free Nelson Mandela, is judging the awards.  He said: ‘My song Free Nelson Mandela… led to the creation of Artists Against Apartheid… That shows what can grow from writing a protest song’.

Deadline: 17 February 2014.
