The UK’s first ever Parliament Week takes place between 31 October and 6 November 2011.
The week comprises a programme of activities exploring how and why the Houses of Parliament matter to everyone. At Democratic Life we think this is a great opportunity to show your MP a citizenship class in action.
The theme for Parliament Week 2011 is ‘Stories of Democracy’ “from the past to the present, from local to national”. Parliament hopes that it will raise awareness about “how democracy affects people and how they can participate in it”. What better way than to get your MP in to your school to talk with students and staff about the relationship between youth, politics and citizenship?
