Citizenship in the press in run up to review deadline

Friday 8 April 2011

Today’s Times Education Supplement features a comment piece from four members of Democratic Life.

David Barrs, headteacher, Anglo European School; Keith Ajegbo, former headteacher, Deptford Green School; Rachael Warwick, headteacher, Didcot Girls’ School and William Atkinson, headteacher, Phoenix High School all discuss why citizenship education is vital to their school and the National Curriculum.  It’s great to see this in print just in time for the review deadline!

Also this week SecEd ran a story featuring a comment from Kate Allen, Director of Amnesty on why citizenship is essential if young people are to be engaged and play an active role in society

  1. Great news. Any teachers out there who haven’t already done so please respond to the call for evidence and add your voice to all of us who want to keep Citizenship in the national curriculum
